EcoATM, has devised a drop-off solution, ATM-style kiosks, or eCycling Stations, which will accept cell phones, MP3 players, digital cameras and other electronics. These items are appraised when deposited, and consumers receive trade-up coupons, gift cards, and/or a charitable contribution deduction on the spot. It is expected that these items can be repurposed for both use within the country, as well as underserved countries where cell phones are in demand. The company is a new entry into the green industry, and plans to roll out eCycling stations in retail stores throughout the country.
I think this is a great idea to encourage recycling particularly for those who find it an effort to do it. The ease of it and the money reward is a great initiative to get people more involved in recycling.
